Two oystercatchers on the wet sand at low water, painted in loose oils, with the tide out and the light going soft over the shallows.
The two birds stand close together low in the frame, one facing left and one facing right, their long orange bills the only strong colour in the picture. Behind them the shore stacks up in bands — wet sand, a strip of shallow water, a low line of breaking surf, then a sky carrying the faintest warm pink. Dark tangles of wrack lie across the foreground in thick, almost black strokes. It is warmer and closer than most shore paintings, and the vertical format keeps the eye moving up through the bands rather than out along the beach. Well suited to hallways, stairwells, bedrooms, bathrooms and reading corners, and to coastal, cottage or muted traditional interiors.
Printed on premium 200 gsm semi-gloss paper. The heavy impasto in the wrack and the surf keeps its ridges, and the canvas weave stays visible at every size.
