Bring the quiet of a wood in a snowfall into the room with this stand of birch under falling snow, the far trees dissolving into white air.
Snow is coming down hard enough to be visible across the whole frame, and it takes the depth away with it — the near trunks are clear, the ones behind them are suggestions, and beyond that there is nothing but pale ground. Almost everything here is a near-white: bone, oyster, the faintest warm grey in the bark, with only a thread of ochre in the twigs and a few dark marks low down where scrub breaks the snow. Painted in gouache, so the edges stay soft and slightly granular rather than crisp. It is the palest thing in the shop and the least insistent, which is exactly what makes it work over a bed or in a room that already has plenty going on. Well suited to bedrooms, bathrooms, landings and quiet corners, and to Scandinavian, Japandi or pale neutral interiors.
Printed on premium 200 gsm semi-gloss paper, which matters more here than on almost anything else we sell — a picture built from a dozen shades of white needs a paper that keeps them apart instead of flattening them into one.
