Open up a wall with this low sun breaking between two hills, its light running the whole length of a still mountain lake.
The composition is almost symmetrical and almost monochrome. Hills fall away on both sides in receding layers, each one paler than the last as the haze takes them, until the far end of the lake is only a thin bright gap. The sun sits just above the left ridge with shafts fanning down across the slope, and the water beneath is smoothed into long horizontal bands with a single column of reflected light running straight towards you. Nearly the whole picture is worked in one warm bronze, held against a cool grey-white sky, with a dark wooded shoulder on the right as the only real weight. At distance it reads as pure light and space; up close the bands in the water separate into dozens of soft ribbons. Well suited to bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and offices, and to warm neutral, contemporary or Japandi interiors.
Printed on premium 200 gsm semi-gloss paper, which carries the long unbroken gradation from the white of the sun down to the dark hillside without stepping into bands, and gives the bright column on the water real luminance rather than letting it sink to flat cream.
