Hang the quietest plant of the season with this single sprig of mistletoe, paired leaves and translucent white berries on a soft off-white ground.
Mistletoe is an odd thing close up — it grows in balls high in old apple and lime trees, it never puts a root in the ground, and the berries are almost see-through. This paints it plainly: one forked stem, the leaves in flat leathery pairs, the berries washed in thinly enough that the paper shows through them. The colour barely moves off cream and pale sage, so the whole print reads as a soft mark on the wall rather than a statement, which makes it the one to hang where something louder would be wrong. It is also built as the opposite number to the holly — dark against pale, hard-edged against washed — and the two hang together better than either does alone. Well suited to bedrooms, hallways, bathrooms and studies, and to calm, neutral or Scandinavian interiors.
Printed on premium 200 gsm semi-gloss paper, which counts for more on a print this pale — it holds the soft edges of the washes without letting them grey off, and keeps the berries luminous rather than chalky.
