Bring a bleak and beautiful winter moment to a wall with this winter harbour print, two fishing boats lying against a snow-covered pier.
This is a working west coast harbour rather than a postcard one — a plain stone pier with a concrete cap, a single lamp on a bracket, and mooring ropes running slack from the bollards to two small boats with their wheelhouses dark. The pier fills the left third and runs away from the viewer under an unbroken cover of snow; the water beyond is dark and almost still; and there is no horizon at all, because sea and sky meet in the same pale grey with the snow falling through it. The pull is that lamp: the only warm light in a near-monochrome picture, and a small one. Well suited to living rooms, hallways, studies and bedrooms, and to coastal, traditional, moody or industrial interiors.
Printed on premium 200 gsm semi-gloss paper, which holds the tonal steps in the dark water without letting the near-blacks flatten — where a near-monochrome picture stands or falls.
