Three broad horizontal bands — deep oxblood, a warm ochre that glows against it, and a softer rose beneath — meeting at edges that were painted rather than ruled. Nothing is drawn, nothing is depicted. The whole piece is colour doing the work on its own.
Look at it one way and it is pure colour field abstraction. Look again and the eye insists on reading a horizon: a low sun over dark land, the last of the light. That flicker between the two is the point, and it is why a piece with no subject at all still holds a wall.
The canvas weave is visible in the pigment, so the colour has body rather than sitting flat. It works hardest in a warm room — against wood, brick, clay, or a deep neutral wall — and at A2 or A1 it becomes the thing the room is arranged around.
