Give a wall quiet intensity with this wolf painted in black ink, its amber eyes fixed straight on you out of a face of loose, dark brushwork.
The head and ruff are built from washes of black and soft grey on warm cream paper, with sharp dry-brush strokes for the fur around the ears and cheeks, flicks and spatters of ink thrown off at the edges, and the lower ruff dissolving into pale wash and bare paper. Only two touches of colour break the monochrome: the amber of the eyes and a faint warm brown along the muzzle. From across the room it reads as one strong, graphic dark shape with plenty of breathing space around it; up close you see how little is actually drawn, and how much work the bare paper does. Well suited to hallways, studies, bedrooms and living rooms, and to minimal, Scandinavian, Japandi or modern monochrome interiors.
Printed on premium 200 gsm semi-gloss paper, which keeps the blacks deep and the soft grey washes smooth and even, holds every fine dry-brush hair and spatter crisp, and lets the amber eyes glow against all that ink.
